folkloremythmagic

Experience the voices of the past, present, and future. Engage with the art. Challenge perspectives. Be part of the legacy.

Queer Heritage: A Living Exhibition

Step into a vibrant, thought-provoking showcase that brings queer heritage, folklore, and identity to life. This exhibition is the culmination of the Gender Transcending Project, weaving together the creative expressions, stories, and artistic responses developed during our workshop series and Queer Heritage Tour of Todmorden.

Reclaiming & Reimagining Heritage

Through a diverse collection of poetry, prose, autobiographical accounts, visual art, and multimedia installations, this exhibition explores the intersections of gender, identity, and cultural history. Each piece offers a unique perspective—drawing inspiration from mythology, historical figures, and personal narratives, challenging traditional understandings of heritage and reclaiming lost or hidden queer histories.

Bridging the Past & Present

This exhibition does not just celebrate queer history—it actively creates it. By presenting these narratives in a visual and immersive way, we invite visitors to engage with the ever-evolving discourse on gender, identity, and folklore. These works serve as a bridge between historical narratives and contemporary experiences, illustrating how storytelling continues to shape and redefine our cultural heritage.

A Space for Dialogue & Reflection

More than just an exhibition, this space is a platform for community engagement, discussion, and learning. Visitors are encouraged to reflect on their own relationship with heritage, question the ways in which history has been constructed, and consider how inclusive storytelling can shape a more representative future.

The Future of Queer Heritage

Alongside the Queer Heritage Tour, this exhibition is a testament to the resilience, creativity, and contributions of queer communities. By showcasing these works in a public space, we affirm that queer histories, identities, and futures belong within our shared cultural narrative.
